Inspections
Staff is available for various inspections during the hours of
10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. To schedule an appointment for an inspection,
please contact the Building Inspection
office at 920-766-6325 during the hours of 8:00 to 11:00 AM and
2:00 to 4:30 PM.
Nuisance Complaints
Building Inspection staff will review nuisance complaints as
they pertain to the Municipal Code. Please be prepared to supply
the property address along with a brief description of the nature
of the complaint.
An inspector will view the property within 72 hours. If indeed a
violation does exist, the property owner will be contacted to
repair/correct such violation.
Complaints related to health should be directed to the Outagamie County
Department of Health and Social Services, at 920-832-4741.
Residential and Commercial Plan Review
Inspection Department staff is available for plan review on all
proposed residential units and all proposed commercial units up to
5,000 square feet. Staff will check individual projects for code
compliance.
What are the requirements for a utility storage
shed?
One utility storage shed is allowed in addition to the detached
garage and principal structure. The storage shed may be a maximum
of 170 square feet, must be located in the rear yard, anchored to
the earth and comply with all setback and lot coverage requirements
governing a detached garage. Storage sheds 100 square feet and
larger must have a concrete floor. Permit fee for a shed is
$25.00.
What are the requirements for constructing a fence on my
property?
Requirements regarding placement of a fence on residential property
varies with the location of the fence and the lot. (Corner lots
have different requirements.) Generally, fences in the rear
yard can be a maximum of six feet in height. For more

What types of projects do I need a building permit
for?
Building permits are required for residential and commercial
construction, additions, renovations and alterations, regardless of
the project value. These projects include but are not limited to:
detached garages, fences, siding, storage sheds, swimming pools and
decks. Permits are also required for certain electrical, plumbing
